Clean Energy Package (CEP)

The Clean Energy for all Europeans Package adopted in 2019, will help to decarbonise EU’s energy system in line with the European Green Deal objectives.

It addresses five key dimensions.

  • Energy security
  • Internal energy market
  • Energy efficiency
  • Decarbonisation of the economy
  • Fostering research, innovation and competitiveness

It includes a robust governance system to ensure effective implementation and coordination among EU member states. The key elements of this governance system include the development of integrated 10-year national energy and climate plans (NECPs) for the period of 2021-2030.

They contribute to global efforts to combat climate change, reinforce the EU’s leadership in climate action, and support its long-term vision of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
